Yukaru Suematsu,Illusionary Value[set of 10]
Acrylic on canvas, 1620x1300mm, 2019
Yukari Suematsu creates works based on the theme of ambivalence in our societies.
Her works are created by using personal experiences as a starting point and transforming them into something that resonates with people from various walks of life. Because of it,her works are presented in abstract screen expressions and with a fuzzy message.
At first glance, her abstract expressions that make full use of the blurring of acrylic paint seem to be created by accident, but they are created with careful planning.
She first decides on a title, and based on that title, she makes numerous sketches and studies, and then decides on the scale, form, color, and composition of the works.
Her artworks are intended to invite viewers to engage with own thoughts and feelings.
She attended residency programs of Arteles Creative Center, Silence Awareness Existence Program, Hämeenkyrö, Finland (2022),
Autonomous Activity Program 2021 winter, Niigata City, Niigata, Japan (2021) and NAKAJO Artist in Residence, Nagano City, Nagano, Japan (2017)
